UTOPIAN SITE PROJECT

Each of us were given an area in a combined site as well as a verb that would serve as the basis for the designs of our buildings. We were tasked with designing a building to suit the given activity. I was given the word 'mingle'. I designed a building focused on business-oriented interaction and mingling, where business people would come to attend social events, or interact with others through the various programs.

VILLAGE @ FORT CANNING

For Part 1 of our final project in the design module, we were tasked to design a building within the Fort Canning area. The site was situated beside the Registry of Marriages (ROM) Building, and the goal was to work with a potential client to deliver a building to cater to a specific target audience. I designed a village-styled complex which would cater to helping the elderly (especially retired) to find a community. There would also be services catered to teaching caretakers about holistic caretaking.

The building features different pockets of social spaces as well as larger communal areas to provide a neighbourhood-like feeling.

PRIMER PROJECT

VILLAGE @ FORT CANNING

(FINAL)

For Part 2 of our project, we were to work on and improve on our previous project for Final Submission.

My new design featured the same intentions, however it had different programmes. Firstly, there was a new food and craft street, where the elderly are able to sell handmade goods that they make in the workshops behind the main street. The building also retained the social pods from before, and now included new modern spaces like IT classrooms.
